Board & Train

Do board & train programs work?

This is a question I am asked often, since it can feel counterintuitive to send a dog somewhere else for training instead of attending private lessons or group classes.

After 16+ years of experience with every type of training program, I can confidently say that board & train programs work well for a variety of reasons. Living with training dogs allows me to get to know them as individuals much faster, complete far more training in a shorter period of time, and practice newly learned behaviors in real life situations every day. Each of these factors serves as a piece of the puzzle to create dogs that easily coexist with people.

There is one last last piece of the puzzle to the board & train, however, and it is the most crucial to your dog’s continued success: YOU! Think of the board & train like going to get your hair dyed. When you first come home, everything’s still fresh & shiny, but without consistent maintenance, training will start to fade, and you may need the occasional touch-up from your stylist. My board & train program is designed as an intensive, where you will see your dog make progress very quickly, but should not be treated as a permanent fix- true success comes from consistent reinforcement & follow-through from the owners.

That being said, I make the same commitment to every client. I will give you not only the tools to succeed, but lifelong support as well. I value educating owners just as much as educating dogs, so if you have questions at any point, even after your training program is complete, just ask.

3 Weeks $3,000

The 3 week board and train is a confidence-boosting program. It includes off-leash commands with E-collar reinforcement. 4 Weeks $4,000

The 4 Week Board & Train is highly. recommended for, but not limited to, rescue dogs and dogs obtained during the COVID-19 pandemic. These 2 categories of dog tend to need extra support when it comes to building confidence and breaking bad habits that may have stemmed from previous living situations or lack of socialization during lockdown.

Training collar, personalized pet portrait, & leash with completion of 4-week program.

5 Weeks $5,000

The 5 Week Board & Train is recommended for reactive and aggressive dogs.

A true aggressive, reactive or problematic dog will be determined by my evaluation. These dogs need more time to adjust and accept education. If you choose this package, a 1 week in-home evaluation will be required at the beginning of the program. The evaluation is to evaluate the dog & the owners, the current situation, and the estimated time training will take.

After the initial evaluation, I may require the owners to provide a thyroid panel, and if the dog is a mixed breed, owners are required to provide an Embark genetic test to determine their exact breeds. Thyroid function and breed-specific traits have a huge effect on a dog’s behavior, so these 2 tests will help me evaluate the dog’s issues on a deeper level before we begin training.

4 private, in-home lessons included to help owners apply new behaviors to a home setting.

Training collar, leash, personalized pet portrait, and more personalized merch included with 5 week program!

New Baby Basics $1500

This is a special 2 week program designed for owners expecting a baby! In order to give new parents some peace of mind, we will schedule the dog to arrive one week before your due date or scheduled induction, and stay for a week after the birth.

Pickup & drop off are included, as well as new baby etiquette training. Behaviors we will work on include body awareness, high chair manners, leave it, the bed command, and a few other things to help the dog adjust to the new member of the family as smoothly as possible. I will also ask for blankets with the baby’s scent to be sent to me for desensitization training.

This program is not as rigorous as a standard board & train program, and is meant to be an introduction to children & manners. Non-aggressive dogs only.
